Paging Doctor Fish!

We eat fish, so why not let them snack on us? Doctor Fish are friendly and toothless algae eaters popular at Turkish and Asian spas, especially with people who suffer from psoriasis. When they’re hungry enough these little fishies will suck the dead skin right off your body! Does that sound gross to you? Actually the people who’ve tried it say it feels like a little massage or that even it tickles a little bit.

Two species of fish are currently being used at “fish therapy” pedicure spas: Garra rufa and Cyprinion macrostomus, from the minnow (carp) family. Spas use the baby fish in water that’s cool enough not to harm them.
